History of Nori
 
Laver is historically called as Hai Tai. According to 'Kyungsang-do Geographical History', about 280 years ago, an old lady tried to eat laver while she was catching shells near Somjin River.
So much preferred to its taste, she put up bamboo trees into water in order to foster laver and people say from that the history of laver cultivation has started.
Floating reed cultivation of today has started from around 1920 which allows laver with certain time of lights every day.
 
About Nori
 
Seaweed is called "nori" in Japan is carefully harvested from the rich seas that surround Korea, Japan.
It is made from several species of Porphyra seaweed that are washed and spread thin to dry.
The nori is then roasted to enhance its flavor and texture, turning it a brilliant green.
Nori seaweed grows at a depth of about 25 feet in the ocean.
Production of nori varies from year to year depending on the weather and the growing area.
The production season usually starts in early November and lasts until late March.

Seaweed is high in fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals.
Compared with dairy products, seaweed provides up to ten times more calcium and iron by weight, and contains other important trace minerals.
Nori itself is a natural food.
Nori contains much of nutrition such as protein for digestion, carbohydrate for energy, calcium and phosphorus for bone and teeth strength, ferrous for hemoglobin of red corpuscle and Vitamin A, B, B2, and C.

Seaweed has traditionally been eaten by Asian cultures to strengthen the circulatory system and help lower cholesterol.
Today scientists are researching other potential health benefits of seaweed.
